Federation of the Wairarapa Co-operative Companies. A conference of Director* of all the i Wairarapa Dairy Companies five i j was held at Carterton, ou Saturday, June 19tb. Mr W. Booth, Chairman of the Dalefield Company, presided, thirty representatives being present. The meeting originated with the Featherston Company, whose chairman \ submitted proposals of common ' interest for discussion. The outcome, | after a very interesting debate, was ; as follows: It was resolved that each Company j should be fully represented at the -annual meeting of the National Dairy Association iu Wellington the third week in July : and should there bring ; forward motions in favour of a rei duction of ocean freights and regular fortnightly shipments of prodnoe ; of a reduction in railway freights for dairy produce; securing uniformity of the cheese manufactured and s’so iof casing same; the appointment by 1 the Department of Agriculture of a duly qualified man to inspect Dairy i Companies, and the question of ! compensation in part for stock I destroyed by his authority, such ! refund to be made out cf the ■ Consolidated Fund.

The delegates from each Company decided that should either Company receive an offer for their season's output the same should be made known to all other W airarapa Companies and a meeting of the federated companies should be held to decide upon the question of all selling or of all consigning for sale to s ome thoroughly reliable Home firm.

The Dalefield Company shareholders having appointed Mr E. W. Dorse; their Inspector with power to visit the farms of all patrons with a vie w to compelling cleanliness in the milking sheds, with a view to obtaining uniformly good milk—the remaining companies were asked to consider whether it would be advantageous to appoint the same gentleman inspector over the whole district.—W.
