Serious Accident.
A serious accident happened to Mr Arthur Turkey, the well-known carrier, whilst on his journey to Makuri yesterday morning. He had passed a brake driven by Mr .1. Ryan, and was proceeding down the Toritea hill towards Ngaturi, when tho horses took charge and bolted down the zigzag, with tho result that the whole concern went over the embankment, a distance of 1U) feet. Tho brake must have passed over the body of Mr Tucksv, as when picked up by Mrltynn ho was found to he seriously injured, lie was placed in the other brake an! conveyed to Puliiatua with nil despatch. Dr Gault ordered his removal to his home, where ho lay last night in a state of unconsciousness. Dr Gault has carefully examined the sufferer and reports that his client is severely crushed, and that he regained \ at It) o’clock this morning, i Mr Tuokoy is not in very great pain and under the circumstances is progressing j very favourably.
