In tho match against the English eleven, the Queensland men were nil out in their second innings for runs, and thus suffered defeat by an innings and 274 runs.
McDonnell (22) and MclHmald 1*20) were the highest scorers. Richardson took three wickets for 11 ruus, and Lockwood four for 54.
The following team will represent Hawera in the Senior (’up match against Woodville on Saturday nett;—Griffiths I’ll. Rutland, l dy, Luceiia. Stainton, Stone-Wigg. Draw, Mover. O’Sullivan. Bodmin. Emergencies: PhillpotU, Wilson X. Bodmin.
The Junior Cup contest between the Woodville and Pahiatua teaua< is being played as we go to press. Woodville hatted first and only made 15, MacGregor’s bowling proving too much for the visitors. Ho secured five wickets for six balls. Pahiatna had two wickets don n for seven runs, when an adjournment was made for luncheon.
