Ballance.

A meeting of settlers was held in the schoolhouse last Saturday evening for the purpose of forming a cricket club. There was a large attendance, and about 25 members were enrolled. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr C. Hall, M.H.R.; president, Mr Tait; vice-presidents, Messrs McCardle, Broome, Robinson, Haggen ; committee, Messrs Eaton. Swan, Hogan, McDavit and Morris ; lion, secretary, Mr Jas. Mackintosh.

The factory is at present in receipt of over 1800 gallons of milk daily. Two hundred boxes of butter loft here a day or two ago for export. Mr H. Prebensen has secured the contract for carting the butter to the railway station.

A foot bridge is much needed at the creek opposite the old factory. At present the stream is crossed over by a lOin plank. This matter ought to be attended to, as it i 9 very dangerous the plank is much used by women end children.
