Mangatainoka.
A public meeting was held in Walther’s Hall on Saturday evening last, for the purpose of forming a cricket club ; about 14 attended. Mr Barrell took the chair, and about 20 names were given in from those wiiointend to join. It was resolved that subscriptions be fixed at five shillings for adults, and half-a-crown for all under 10 years of ago. It was also resolved that Mr Charles Hall, M.11.R. be asked to become Patron, Captain Richardson, President, and Messrs Wagstaff, Barrell, Wilson, and Dray, Vice-presidents. Mr H. Godtschalk was unanimously elected secretary and treasurer, pro turn. Mr A. J. Cowles was elected practice captain. The following were elected a committee : Messrs London, Walthers, Baynes, Cowles, and Marsh. The opening match will be played on Saturday next on the station site. It was resolved that a concert be given in aid of the club’s funds in about a fortnight’s time.
