A Post Office Safe Removed.

NAPIER, September 1. Daring burglaries were perpetrated last night at the Hastings Post Office, which was broken into some time during the night, and the saf* taken away bodily, coniaiaiog about 27s n cash, .£ll7 in siampe, and postal notes to the value of A 77 12a. Next to the Post Office stood ai: express in the yard for sale. The burglars look advantage of thie with which to cart the safe away. Yesterday being the last day for payment of the property tax, about 41500 was taken, which was fortunately banked surlier m the day. At present the affair is shrouded in mystery, but the poliee have the matter in hand. Napier. This Day. Regarding the Hastings Post Office burglary, Ihe safe was found ia a ploughed paddook at Lomglaads, on the Marak&kaho road, about 3} mile* from Hastings. An express was dissovered near the raoefoursf which was perhaps as far as the per pelrators could get as the king bolt w»« broken. Some chisel marks are on thf joints, and the entrant*# te the safe seem* to have been effected by cutting tw( plates of iron at the bottom. All th< contents had bee* abstracted.
