[Correspondence is invited upon ail subjects, but we do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions of our co respondents . ] COUNTY COUNCIL CONFERENCE. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —I see by the proceedings of the Conference of County Councils that has been held in Wellington that on the motion of a Mr MoNab, seconded by Mr Bolton, a clause be added to the Counties Act enabling the counties to procure from municipal corporations such information as they may require, as in the case of Road Boards and Town Boards. What the object is 1 know not. In the case of Town Boards and Read Boards these are to a certain extent subservient to County Councils, being the minor bodies collecting rates within the counties, but in the case of municipalities this is net so. Counties have no more right to make demands as to tiie receipts and expenditure of municipalities than the latter have to demand frern counties estimates of their receipts and expenditures, and if the Governiriet were to give effect to such ail absurd resolution I should advise the Municipal Conference to make the same demand.—l am, &c., Job Vilh.
