Ballance,

The flchool committee met on Wednesday, April 4 th. Present— Messrs Brown (Chairman), Anderson, Jolly, Sinclair, Kpipenberger, aud McLeod. The master’s report was read, showing 52 on the roll, average attendance for month 42, for quarter 40, highest attendance for month 48, for qßarter 48. Several books were received for distribution as prizes after the annual examination ; a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the givers. An additional number of books wa« received from the Educational Board towards the school library; also books were given by Mr Macintosh, still further increasing the library. The poll on the Mangahao bridge loan proposal was carried. The voting was:—At Sinclair: For, 105; against, 1. At Abbetts’: For, 11 ; against, nil.
