Boms Clnb Social. Last evening a gathering of members of ihe Pahiaiaa Burns Clnb, with their friends, was held in the Town Hall, and proved thoroughly enjoyable. There was an excellent attendance. The musical portion of the programme was opened by a nicely played overture by Mise Falconer. Mr Turnbull followed with a song " When the Kye comes hatne,” rendered in his usual happy manner. Mr Dash was as laugh-inspiring as usnal in his contribution •' ( omin thro* the Dye.” Mr Sutcliffe re cited " The natural bridge of Virginia,” with great success. Mr Crawford, whose \ public appearances are all too few. rendered | “The Admiral's Broom ” in fine style. j Mr I.ucas sang " The Miner’s Dream of j Homs” excellently. Mr Hawkins fol lowed, and recited “ The Execution of Montrose ” with much dramatic effect. Mr P. Hackett. a recent addition to the ranks of mnsical residents of Pahiatua. sang “ Forgive and Forget,” and proved the poseeeser of a very pleasing tenor voice. ’lght and sweet. His contribution was extremely well received. Miss Oowing brought the first portion of the programme to a c’ose by a nicely played violin solo. *• Auld Robin Gray.” During the interval which followed, refreshments of a dainty and appetising character (provided by ladv friends of the menhers) were handed round by the ladies and ; partaken of with evident appreciation. Mr Crawford resumed the | programme by singing” The Diver.” Mr , Lucas contributed “ She reigneth alone,” hie effort being received with every mark of appreciation. Mr Crawford resiled the Irish comicality “Christening the Boy,” with great gusto and fairly earned away his audience, who demanded and insisted on aa encore. Tne musical portion of ths I programm# was eoucluded by the singing of “ My Nannie's awi," by Mr Turnbull. The hall was then oleared for dancing I which was kept up with vigor until ooasiderabl v after midnight.
