The Mangatainoka Bridge.
Subsidy Granted. (By Tel. graph.) '.From our own Correspondent.) Wellington, This Day. The Minister of Lands has intimated that the subsidy of i‘soo for the Mangataiuoka bridge will be available when the work is undertaken. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. This Day. A deputation from Pahiataft waited on the Minister of Lands this morning with reference to the construction of a bridge i over the Mangatamoka river, near Paliiatua township. A vote of £SOO was passed l on the estimates last session rs subsidy towards the cost of this work, and the deputation waited on the Minister and asked him to hand this money over to I the Borough Council on the condition that » the Council raised £1,500. Mr McKenzie replied that there would be no difficulty so far aa the £SOO was concerned, pro 1 vtded the plans were approved, lie said | ! Mr Reaney. the officer in charge of the roads in the district, would be asked to inspect the plans and report to the Depart ! ment. When the report was received a reply would be forwarded as to the granting _ of the subsidy.
