The Minister of Lands has intimated that the subsidy of i‘soo for the Mangataiuoka bridge will be available when the work is undertaken. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. This Day. A deputation from Pahiataft waited on the Minister of Lands this morning with reference to the construction of a bridge i over the Mangatamoka river, near Paliiatua township. A vote of £SOO was passed l on the estimates last session rs subsidy towards the cost of this work, and the deputation waited on the Minister and asked him to hand this money over to I the Borough Council on the condition that » the Council raised £1,500. Mr McKenzie replied that there would be no difficulty so far aa the £SOO was concerned, pro 1 vtded the plans were approved, lie said | ! Mr Reaney. the officer in charge of the roads in the district, would be asked to inspect the plans and report to the Depart ! ment. When the report was received a reply would be forwarded as to the granting _ of the subsidy.
