Presentation to Bro. T. Keohan

By the Pahiatua Knights of Labor.

At the ordinary meeting of the Onward f Aassembly, Knights of Labor, Pahiatua, last uighl after general business had been transacted, the Master Workman rose and said that he bad much pleasure in presenting to Brc. Keohan, on behalf of the Assembly. a marble timepiece as a token of the esteem in winch he was held by the members and as a small mark of appreciation for services rendered. There was no . doubt he had thoroughly deserved it. lie was sure that Bro. Keohan and Mrs Keohan knowing in what spirit it came from the Assembly would value it highly. He hoped they would both live long to read time by it. Bro. Keohan said there were times in I the life of a man when he was compelled 1 totakeiefuge in the words of the poet. •• When the heart i** full the tongue is ! silent.” He had no idea that a preeenta ! tion was to take place that evening and | felt sure such a recognition of anything ; he might have done was far beyond his I merits. He could assure the Assembly that as years rolled into years lie would I always look back with pleasurable recol- j ; lections to the hours he had spent in the j | Assembly. He would always ta happy to J j do anything for the organisation which he j believed to ta one of thg best on the face I of the earth. If the programme laid down in th* preamble were adhered to and [ carried out the people could require nothing more. He returned liis moat 1 sincere thanks for the present, which lie would always cherish as a valued mark of 1 goodwill. i The clock which was u valuable marble one. tare a silver plate with the following inscription :—" Presented to Bro. T. Keohan from tho Onward Assembly, Knights of tabor, as a token of esteem, 1894."
