Masonic Lodge.

Installation of Officers.

A very pleasant gathering took place in the Masonic Hall on Wednesday evening, the occasion being the annual installation of the Worshipful Master and the investiture of officers. Bro. H. J. Williams, Grand Superintendent of the Wellington District, conducted the installation ceremony in his usual excellent manner, assisted by Bro. Stewart, P.M., G.S., and Bro. Black, P.M., P.G.S. Bro. J. Gregory was installed as master, and the following were the officers invested :—S.W., Bro. A. Blair; J.W., Bro. A. Ross; S.D., Bro. J. Mcßain; J.D., Bro. F. G. Mooro; Treasurer, Bro. G. H. Smith ; Secretary Bro. A. Black, P.M.; 1.G., Bro. J. Manson ; Tyler, Bro. J. P. Clark. After the ceremony thoso present partook of refreshments, provided principally by the wives of the brethern of the lodge, and the general opinion was that it was in every respect a most praiseworthy effort. During the evening the usual toasts were proposed and responded to—that of the Grand Master of New Zealand being responded to by the Grand Superintendent, who in a lengthy and most interesting speech gave those present an insight into the doings of the Grand Lodge One fact mentioned was the probability that the next Gland Master was to be a resident of the Empire City. It was also mentioned incidentally that a charter had been applied for at Eketahuna, and that within a short time no doubt a lodge would be opened there. Tho toasts were interspersed with several good songs, and altogether Wednesday’s gathering is esteemed the most successful yet held in Pahiatua. Last evening a number of children were entertained at the Hall, and, it is needless to say, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We understand that this inno\ ation is only the forerunner of a more extensive gathering of the children of Masons every year. Want of space precludes us from giving a more extended report of the installation ceremony.
