MOTOR FATALITY
CHARGE AGAINST DRIVER CHRISTCHURCH, June 21. Arising out of the fatal accident near Dromore on Friday, Alfred William Perrow, aged 42, a salesman, was charged to-day at Christchurch with driving a motor car recklessly and causing the death of Frank Major. He was remanded for a week. The police said the bail should be increased. Following the alleged incident, the accused put up at an hotel under an assumed name. Bail was fixed at £2OO and two sureties of £lOO each.
As the result of being knocked down by a motor car on the Main South road near Ashburton on Friday night, Frank Major, aged 46, of Timaru, was admitted to the Ashburton Hospital in a critical condition, and died on Saturday morning. The driver of the car, Alfred William Perrow, a salesman, aged 32, who, it is alleged, did not stop after the accident, was arrested in Christchurch.
