A marked demand for houses in Napier and for small farms in the Hawke’s Bay district is reported to be the outstanding feature of inquiries which are at present being received by a Napier land agent. He states that he has received numerous inquiries from persons anxious to lease small farms in the district. There has been no slackening, he adds, in the demand for rented hotises in Napier, and it has for many months been a matter of difficulty to accommodate would-be tenants. Rents have been reduced in a number of eases as a result of the application of the provisions of the National Expenditure Adjustment Act, but in the majority of cares have remained unaltered.
