WAR DEBTS OF THE ALLIES

The following tables give in detail the war debts due by various Allied nations to Great Britain, repayment of which is liable to be affected by agreements made at the Lausanne Conference now sitting; also the debts owing by Great Britain and the other Powers to the United States, the sums in dollars having been converted into pounds sterling at approximately par of exchange. The funding agreements made at various dates between 1922 and 1928 spread repayment over a period of G2 years, and in calculating the proportion of interest and principal in the final settlement, interest has been taken as 41 per cent. The first column in the tables shows the amount owing in each instance when the funding agreement was made; the second gives the sum total of the annual instalments to be paid for G2 years; the third shows how much of the amounts in the second column is capital repayment as distinct from interest and the fourth shows the percentage of debt remission the difference between the amounts in the first and third column represents. DEBTS DUE TO GREAT BRITAIN.

The table omits the Russian war debt of £423,321,000 estimated at £953,000,000 with accumulated interest to March 31, 1931, which has never been funded, and the Belgian war debt of £90,084,000, which was included in Germany's reparation debt. DEBTS DUE TO UNITED STATES.

There is also owing to the United States by Russia a sum of £38.000,000, with interest accrued since the war years, which has not been funded.
