DOMINION MANUFACTURERS
MEETING OF FEDERATION. WELLINGTON, April 6. A meeting of the New Zealand Alanufacturers’ Federation was held to-day, and was attended by representatives from Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin. A resolution was carried expressing confidence in the Prime Alinister (Air G. W. Forbes) and the heads of the Government as representatives for the Dominion at the Ottawa Conference. The resolution deprecated the inclusion of any delegates representing specific interests, but added that if the Government decided to accept advisors, the Alanufacturers’ Federation would assist by sending representatives to Ottawa. Afembers at the meeting expressed astonishment at the statement made in the House of Representatives by Air Coates on Tuesday to the effect that the absorption of labour in local manufacturing industries had almost reached saturation point. The opinion was expressed that there were many avenues for employment and it was considered that proper development would ensure substantial employment.
