In presenting- the blue riband to the winner of the Five-mile New Zealand Cycling Championship at the Sefton sports, the Prime Alinister (Air G. W. Forbes), said he was very pleased to have the opportunity of presenting something to someone. His job of late had been rather the reverse.
A good example of presence of mind was given bj- Air B. Haybittie, one of the pilots who arrived at the Alangere Aerodrome (Auckland), on Saturday, when hio machine over-ran during ’ landing (states the Star). Seeing that the machine was likely to strike a fence on the boundary, he immediately switched off the engine, undid his safety belt, and jumped, and, while the machine was still rolling, caught hold of a wing strut, and so prevented the plane from colliding noae first with the fence.
