Seagulls are beginning to return to the Bluff Hill cliffs, Napier, to make their nests after an absence of over a year. Before the earthquake the cliffs towering above the Breakwater road had been the nesting places of these birds for a great many years, but when the earthquake caused the cliffs to slip, they took fright, and, until recently, were afraid to return. Now, however, they appear to be gaining confidence in this locality, and large numbers of the birds may be seen exploring the various slips as if seeking suitable nesting places.
