Nelson City recently held a ten days’ carnival to raise funds for the Y.M.C.A. Miss Hilda Patterson was crowned queen, and attended by the three queens from the remaining wards of the city, who acted as maids of honour, while other Nelson children took the part of heralds, train and banner bearers. Our picture shows the queen (Miss Hilda Patterson) and her maids of honour —from left (with hats): Misses Mabel Page, Lottie Fingland, and Sadie Harling. —E. Dudgeon, photo.
