“ On similar reclaimed land in America all asparagus supplies are grown,” said Mr P. Gardner at the meeting of the Whangarei Harbour Board recently. “ Two or three acres are sufficient to support a man and his family.” These remarks were made when the board was considering a scheme to place unemployed on reclaimed tidal lands.
