POST OFFICE SITE
RELEASE OF PARADISE DUCKS QUESTION RAISED IN THE HOUSE. WELLINGTON, March 2. A report from Dunedin that the new post office site is covered by water and inhabited by paradise ducks has prompted Mr" J. W. Munro to place a question on the Order Paper asking the Postmaster-general (Mr A. Hamilton) whether it is the intention of the department to use the Chief Post Office site in Dunedin as a wild-duck sanctuary, as according to a report in the Dunedin newspapers a number of paradise ducks are swimming around there. Citizens of Dunedin would like the assurance of the Minister, Mr Munro says, that the site will not be diverted to any other purpose than for a post office, as some £30,000 has -been expended iu costly foundations.
The ducks, which -were the subject of this questiou, were recaptured at a late hour on Tuesday night by an official of the Acclimatisation Society, who donned a pair of waders for the purpose.
