The distinction of having served under every Minister for Agriculture New Zea* land has had is enjoyed by Mr J. G. Scott, who has just retired from the position. of inspector of stock at Blenheim (says the Express). Mr Scott, who .has completed 32 years in the civil service, joined the Department of Agriculture in Auckland in 1899, not long after the establishment of the portfolio and when it was'still held by the' late Sir John M'Kenzie, the first Minister. After five years in the Auckland district, Mr Scott was transferred to Lincoln,.
