The making of tea at 2 o’clock in the morning was one of the many grudges borne by a woman in the Christchurch Maintenance Court against her husband, from whomxshe was applying for a separation order. When she was asked why she returned to him on one occasion, she displayed a sad lack of faith in masculine fidelity. “He gave me his word of honour as a man —which is very little,” she said.
