A dog accompanying a party returning from the Waitara East Beach recently suddenly dived into the lupins, and before it could be stopped, had killed a young penguin which it found there. The bird ■had apparently made its way 100 yards from the sea (says the Taranaki Herald) and was in the lupin bushes just oS the track.
