During the spell of dry weather many persons have been detected using the high-pressure water supply for the purpose of watering gardens without having installed a water meter, reported the Water Supply and Works Committee at the last meeting of the Christchurch City Council. An advertisement was therefore inserted in the newspapers warning persons against this practice, and persons previously detected had received a caution. The committee had arranged for a further advertisement to be inserted in the newspapers, advising that anyone offending in this direction in the future would be prosecuted without further warning.
