This night picture of the Sydney Harbour Bridge shows how the light tracks of the various ferries (due to long exposure) adhered to the same track trip after trip. The bridge, which will be officially opened next Easter, has cost £9,900,000 against the estimate of £5,570,000. The increased cost is due to a variety of causes, principal among which have been the demands by the various unions for increased and special rates of pay. It was provided in the contract that any additional cost consequent on additional wage payments should be met, not by the contractors, but by the Government, and with Labour in power the men almost invariably got their own way. Now a vigorous controversy is raging over the question of a toll and who is going to pay the big bill. -Sydney Sun, photo.
