MR OSCAR GARDEN
FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA ABANDONED AIR CIRCUS IN SOUTH AFRICA, WELLINGTON, October 14. Mr Oscar Garden has abandoned for the meantime his plan to fly from England to Australia and New Zealand. He intends conducting an air circus in South Africa. With his partner, John Tranen, and other pilots, he is now on big way to South Africa with three or four planes. This information is conveyed by Mr Garden’s mother, who arrived by the Tamaroa to-day. She said Oscar had found difficulty in raising the money for the purchase of a machine to fly to Australia and New Zealand. He then decided to take in a partner and undertake the South African air circus venture. Mrs Garden said her son had had a great reception at the Isle of Man, her native place, where Oscar was educated. Recently he had undergone a special course in advanced airmanship.
