COLUMBA COLLEGE
MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the Board of Governors of Columba College was held at the college on Tuesday. There were present:—The Rev. J. J. Cairney (president). Mrs R A. Ewing, Drs W. H. Borrie. J. R. Elder and J. Malcolm, and Mr J. M. Fraser. A letter was received from the Presby tery of Dunedin-confirming the appoint ment to the Board of Governors of Miss Jessie Armour, who will represent the Columba Old Girls’ Association. It was decided, in view of other fix tures. to postpone the college sports until Friday. October 30. The First Bishopcourt Company, it wa= reported, had been successful in winninu the Ferguson Cup at the Guide Rally held last Saturday, and hearty congratulations were extended to, the captain (M. E Hervey) and the company for the honourgained on that occasion. It was resolved to place on record the valued services of Miss A. W. Todd, who had been in charge of Forms I and IT for tiie past five years, and who had left to be married.Yotes of thanks were passed to Mrs Ewing. Dr Borrie. and Mr M'Skimming for their generous donation of reference books for the school library, and to Mi J. G. Johnston for his valuable, gift of A. A. Milnes’s plays. “ Encyclopaedia of the' British Empire,” and “European History.’ Mr Johnston, it was stated, had further offered to present, at a later date, a copy of “ Barrie’s Plays.” This would be a valuable acquisition to the school, and one which would be greatly appreciated by the pupils.
