The Long Race Over: The winning riders reaching the tape at the Addington Show Grounds, Christchurch. Five riders bunched in a wheel-to-wheel finish, sprinting like track riders at the end of the race, roused the big crowd assembled in the Show Grounds to witness the finish to the wildest excitement. T. Lohrey flashed out a few yards from the finish to win by a length and a-quarter from C. J. Arnst Lohrey’s time was 7hr 2min 17sec. He is 19 years of age. The fastest time was made by H. G. Watson (6hr 44min 49sec).
