BUY BRITISH
EXHIBITION AT CHRISTMAS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, September 4. A movement now set on foot is known as the ” National Roll of Buyers of British Goods.” People are invited to join the organisation and pledge themselves to buy only British or Empire goods, other things being equal. Badges are issued which indicate the owners’ preference in his or her shopping. Already there are 190,000 members. Arrangements are being made to hold an all-British exhibition and Christmas shopping fair in London from November 30 to December 24. The exhibition will be held in Dorland House, Piccadilly circus, which has a floor space of over 21,000 square feet. Its object is to prove that the Empire can supply practically everything that we want at Christmas. Most of the dominions and colonies have arranged to have exhibits, while the applications already received ensure that almost every sort of article in demand by the Christmas shopper will be on sale. Profits from the exhibition, if any, will be utilised for the furtherance of the “ Buy British ” campaign.
