DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held on Thursday afternoon, was attended by Messrs Hanlon (chair), Hazlett, Ainge, Lough. Irwin, Fisher, Cook, A. N. Smith. J. Smith, and W. J. Goughian. Drs Batchelor and Ross. The application of the Otago Hunt Club to race at Wingatui on September 5 was granted.

The following officials were appointed: —Hon. treasurer. Mr J. A. Ainge; 'hon. surgeons—Drs Hall, Fergus. Fitchett, Reid, Spedding. and Harty; hon. physician, Dr Marshall Macdonald; hon. vet. surgeons—Messrs Snowball, Pierson, and Lewis.

The following sub-committees were appointed:—Works: Messrs Coughlan, Fisher. Irwin, and A. N. Smith. Finance: Dr Batchelor, Messrs Cook, Fisher, Lough, and Irwin. Track: Messrs Hazlett, Ainge, and A. N. Smith. Programme: Messrs Irwin, A. N. Smith. Fisher, and Dr Batchelor. Band and Catering: Messrs Coughlan, Fisher, and Dr Ross. It was resolved to reinstate the bar on the ground floor of the stewards’ stand, such work to be done before the Hunt Chib meeting. It was resolved to reduce the admission charge to the lawn for the meeting on September 12 to 7s 6d. The following Judicial Committee was appointed for the meeting on September 12: —Messrs Hanlon, Fisher, Coughlan, A N. Smith, and J. Smith. A letter was received from the Unemployment Committee regarding engaging unemployed men on race days, and it was resolved that where it was possible unem ployed men should be so engaged.

A committee, consisting of the president, vice-president, treasurer, and Mr Fisher, was appointed to consider the best methods of effecting economies and to report to a special meeting of the whole committee. Messrs Ainge and A. N. Smith were given full power to arrange for passes, etc., and generally to superintend at all gates.
