A good-natured jibe at the rainy province is related thus in the Taranaki Herald: —A visitor to Taranaki recently inquired of a Taranakian, apropos of the ever-falling rain, “ Doesn’t it ever clear up here? ” Complete ignorance on the point was shown by the local resident. He replied: “I don’t know. I have only been here two years.”
