Luna Park, once the joy of Auckland’s youth on pleasure bent, presents a sorry appearance to-day. Workmen are busy dismantling its gaily-decorated side shows and devices, for the timber will be sold on the ground, and the apparatus and machinery that operated such mechanical delights as the merry-go-round, the “ caterpillar,” and the “ whip ’’ will be packed and sent to Sydney for use during the Harbour Bridge Exhibition early next year. A tender has be§n let to the Fletcher Construction Company to rebuild the Criterion block in Hastings street, Napier, minus the hotel. The price is under £29,000. A tender has also been let for the reconditioning of the Public Trust Office in Tennyson street to the same company. The price is under £5OOO.
