THE DOMINION’S INTERESTS
MOVEMENT FOR PROTECTION WESTPORT. July 31. At the first general meeting of the recently formed Natives’ Association, held in Westport this evening it was stated that the present membership was 300. Alembers must be native-born New Zealanders. The general policy of the association is “ New Zealand for New Zealanders,’’ consistent with the economic development of the country. The association, which will use its powers to protect tlie social and industrial rights and interests of New Zealand-born citizens, will be non-sec-tarian, and will maintain its independence politically, but it may, in its discretion, become politically active in any direction whatever for the furtherance of its objects. The association asserts its loyalty to the Dominion of New Zealand and to the British constitution, and it shall encourage local industry by nurchasing if possible New Zealand-made goods. Air G. H.
