A NATIONAL PARTY

APPEAL BY BUSINESS MEN DOMINION CAMPAIGN INAUGURATED. WELLINGTON, June 19. As part of a Dominion-wide movement aiming at the formation of a National Government, a number of prominent pro fessional and business men in Auckland have signed a memorandum which is hpn.g sent to the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr J. G. Coates). The memorandum declares that a National Party, inclusive of all political sections, is absolutely essential, and. sooner or later, is inevitable; that the possibilities of the formation of such a party should be explored in a conference between all parties, because of the existing national emergency, which threatens to become more acute. Further, public opinion- should be made so strong that no one would be encouraged to defend the interests of any existing party.
