ASCOT MEETING. LONDON, June 16. The principal event at the opening of the Ascot meeting resulted:—
ASCOT STAKES HANDICAP, Of 199550v5. Two miles. Mr F. H. W. Cundell’s b h NOBLE STAR (Hapsburg—He; per) .. 1 BLUE VISION ( ) . .. .. 2 BONNY BOY II (Comrade —Basse Point) 3 Twenty-one started. Won bv threequarters of a length; half a length between second and third. THE ROYAL HUNT CUP. WON BY GRAND SALUTE. LONDON, June 17. The Royal Hunt Cup, 2830sovs, seven furlongs and 1(55 yards, resulted :—Grand Salute 1, Ellenborough 2, Gracedale 3. Eighteen started. Won by half a length, with a length and a-half between second and third. SUCCESS OF THE TOTALISATOR. RUGBY, June 17. The weather for the second day of the Ascot meeting was again fine, although rain early in the morning caused .in ••.han donment of the royal procession, the King and Queen and other members of .he Royal Family arriving by cars. There was an enormous crowd. One feature of the meeting was the success of the totalisator, which was installed for the first time this year. Thu turnover on the first two days totalled £llO,OOO. THE ASCOT GOLD CUP. LONDON, June 18. The Ascot Gold Cup, 364050v5, two miles and a-half, resulted:—Trimdon 1, Singapore 2, Salmon Leap 3. Ten started. Won by a short head; five lengths. TOTALISATOR TURNOVER. RUGBY, June 18. Owing to a brief but sudden rainstorm, which began when the King and Queen were about to drive down the course on their visit to Ascot race meeting today, the Royal party went past the enclosure in closed landaus. The total takings of the totalisator at Ascot to-day exceeded £66.800.
