PRIMATE DEPORTED. THE REASON NOT DISCLOSED. MADRID, June 15. While returning to Toledo from Rome Cardinal Segura, Primate of Spain, was .arrested at Guadalajara on Sunday. Civil Guards stopped the motor in which Cardinal Segura, his brother, and another priest were and escorted them to the office of the Civil Governor, where they were detained until midnight. Cardinal Segura refused a request to leave Spain. He was allowed to spend the night in a monastery, and this afternoon police inspectors removed him by car to the frontier. Scnor Zamora (Prime Minister) refused to discuss the reason for Cardinal Segura's deportation. “TREATED LIKE A CRIMINAL.” LONDON, June 16. “I have been treated like a common crhninaL Apparently the Republican regime does not permit courtesy either to grey hairs or to a Primate and Prince of the Church,” said Cardinal Segura, after his deportation. “ I fear the present terrorism against the opponents of Re publicanism and Socialism will produce irreligious courts the laws of which will tend to destroy the Catholic Church of Spain.” PROTEST FROM THE VATICAN. LONDON, June 16. The Rome correspondent of The Times states that the Vatican has protested to Spain against the expulsion of Cardinal Segura. SECTIONS OF PRESS INDIGNANT. MADRID, June 17. The clerical and monarchist press is indignant at the expulsion of Cardinal Segura. The newspaper El Debate asks whether the Government wishes to provoke civil w r ar and suggests that the actions of members of the Cabinet are calculated to force Roman Catholics to abandon their present legal tactics. La Tierra, which is the organ of the Leftists, alleges that there is a strong movement among the Roman Catholic radical elements of northern Spain to place Don Jaime on the throne. Funds and munitions have been accumulated for the purpose. Don Jaime is a descendant of the pretender, Don Carlos, whose supporters are constantly crossing the frontier from their headquarters at Bayonne.
