BABY’S CLOSE CALL

RESCUED FROM BURNING HOUSE.

STRATFORD, June 20. Looking out of his milking shed at Cardiff this morning, a farmer, A. Goble, saw his house in flames, and was just in time to enter by a window and rescue a two-months-old baby from the smokefilled room.

Goble and his wife went to milk, leaving the baby in the house. Mrs Goble went later to see if the child was all right. Reaching the shed door, she saw that flames had enveloped the house. The shock caused her to faint.

Her husband rushed out and just saved the child in the nick of time. The house and contents are a total loss. The building was insured for £275 and the furniture for £2OO.
