INTERNATIONAL YACHT RACING: BRITAIN’S QUEST FOR AMERICA’S CUP.

The first race for America s Cup was set down for Saturday last, and the contest will continue until one boat is proved the winner. This is Sir Thomas Lipton’s fifth attempt to lift the Cup and bring it back to the British Isles, whence it migrated in 1851. Sir Thomas challenged for the Cup in 1899, 1901, 1903, and 1920 He also challenged at the end of the war, but conditions were too unsettled to permit of the race being held in 191 9.
