MELBOURNE RUNNER SELECTED. SYDNEY, April 25. W. Al. Whyte, the Alelbourne runner, has been selected for the British Empire games in place of J. Carlton, who is unable to make the trip.
CONTEST AGAINST AMERICANS. NEW YORK, April 24. A report from Chicago states that 55 British Empire athletes from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland will visit Chicago on August 27, following the Hamilton games, and meet a United States team picked from the national Amateur Athletic Union Games.
