THE NAVAL RESERVE.
The commanding officer of the Otago Division, R.N.V.R., has received information that his Excellency the GovernorGeneral has confirmed in the rank of lieutenant-commander the following officers, as from April 7. 1930: —Lieutenantcommander Claude H. Kersley, Canterbury Division; Lieutenant-commander Assheton J. Lever-Naylor, Wellington Division; Lieutenant-commander Arthur B. Welch, Otago Division. The foregoing have held the position of executive officers for their respective divisions since the inception of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
The recruiting of No. 2 subdivision is being maintained throughout the evenings of April 29. 30, and May 1, between 7 and 9 o’clock. Intending recruits should report during these hours at the headquarters in Tewsley street. On Thursday, April 24, over 50 candidates were medically examined and sworn in. Several had to be turned down owing to the physical standard being above the average. A further. 17 can be enrolled.
