MEDICAL CONFERENCE.

TO BE HELD IN CHRISTCHURCH. Doctors from all over New Zealand and some from Australia will visit Christchurch this month to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, which will be held in the Canterbury College Buildings from February IS 'till February 22 inclusive. Dr T. Mill, of Christchurch, is the president elect, and will be installed by Dr J. S. Elliott, retiring president, on the evening of the opening day. The secretary is Dr A. C. Thomson, and the assistant secretary Dr E. R. Reay, both of Christchurch.

A very full and interesting programme has been arranged, and among the matters to be discussed are the diagnosis and treatment of chronic rheumatism, and the speakers on this subject will include physicians and surgeons from Melbourne, Dunedin, and Wellington. A very complete programme has been arranged in the radiological section, and the subject of hospital policy will come up for discussion. An evening will be devoted to a discussion on the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society. All the various sections of medicine will come under review, and will he discussed. The chairman of the various sections are: — Surgery: Dr H. T. D. Acland. Medicine: Dr F. G. Gibson. Orthopicdic surgery: Dr J. L. Will. Gymecology and obstetrics: Dr W. Irvine. Ear. nose, and throat: Dr T. A. MacG i bl ion. Ophthalmology: Dr IL Wales. Radiology: Dr R. N. Guthrie. Radium: Dr P. C. Fenwick. Section of neurology: Dr R. H. Baxter. Pathological section: Dr A. B. Pearson. There will be between CO and SO visitors, and among those attending the conference will be Sir Lindo Ferguson and Sir Louis Barnett (Dunedin), Sir Donald M‘Gavin (Wellington), Dr Silberberg (of Melbourne). Mr C. W. Littlejohn, of Melbourne, and well-known men from all over New Zealand.
