At St. Barnabas’s Church, Fendalton, on XVednesday afternoon, the wedding was celebrated of Alary Beadon (Bettv) only daughter of Air and Airs J. B. Norris. Fendalton, and Robert Percy, only son of Air and Airs F. H. Fish, of Geraldine, and great grandson of the late Bishop Harper, of Christchurch. The Rev. F. B. Redgrave performed the ceremony.’ The bride, who was given away bv her father, wore a long, plainly-cut' frock of ivory ■faille with fully flared skirt and tight bodice with X -shaped neck, and long, tight-fitting sleeves. The lace veil which was worn over the face formed a long train, and was held in place by a coronet of pearls and diamente, with a small posy of orange blossom at one side. The onlyornament worn was an old Italian silver bead necklace, over 100 years old. a gift to the bride. She carried a sheaf of white lilies and begonias. The two bridesmaids. Aliss Frances Fish, sister of the bridegroom, and Aliss Alary Hogg, wore frocks of apple-green lace with full skirts, and tight-fitting bodices finished with little capes tied in a bow at the shoulder. Their large nut-brown pandan hats were each trimmed with a stitched band of georgette of the same shade to match their shoes, and they carried sheaves of gladioli and roses in shades of yellow, repeating the colour of their amber necklaces. The Wellington Lyceum Club was the scene of a very pleasant afternoon party when the South African Veterans’ Association bade farewell to Mrs M'Gregor. who. with Mr Justice Al’Gregor and Alias Cecil M’Gregor, is leaving on Saturday by the Rangitata for an extended tour abroad. Mrs J. J. Clark, president of the club, received the guests, wearing a frock of beige silk lace with touches of brown. The rooms were charmingly decorated with deen crimson,roses and maidenhair fern, and a delicious tea was served. Mr J. J. Clark, president of the Veterans’ Association, handed the guest of honour a beautiful posy, and gave her the good wish from all. and spoke of the appreciation and friendship which had existed lyetween them since the South African War. when the guest of honour was one of the few nurses who went with the. New Zealand contingents. Mrs M’Gregor* responded cordially, and was told that a corps of the contingent meant to make a guard of honour for her on Saturday, when the Rangitata leaves. There was a large gathering of friends at the Wellington Women’s Club when Meedames M'Villy and Henderwn were hostesses at a farewell tendered to Miss 8. Skerrett before her departure from New Zealand by the Rangitata. The rooms were beautifully arranged with flowers. Morning tea was enjoyed, and admired, as well as very fine scarlet zinnias, Iceland poppies, and other lovely flowers. Morning tea was enjoyed, and then the Mayoress of Wellington. Sirs G. A. Troup, made a pleasant little speech, and handed Miss Skerrett a parting gift from her friends. There were many of the wives of members of the legal profession, club members, and many other friends present, and Mrs Harold Johnston (president), and Lady Myers made brief speeches, and expressed their regret at-the departure of Miss Skerrett, who was some few years ago the successful founder of the club. Miss Skerrett and her brother. Sir Charles, lived for many years at Lowry Bay, and their fine house and garden made a centre of very pleasant hospitality which will be much missed. The girls at Point Halswell Borstal Institution had a very happy afternoon recently, arranged by Mrs Sprott. For the past four years the Mothers’ Union qf St. Paul’s and the Girls’ Friendly Society have made themselves responsible for the provision for this party, which ie

one anticipated with much pleasure. Miss Parlane and the girls at St. Mary’s Home made the sandwiches, and Mrs Pearson provided the rest of the supplies. The table was charmingly decorated and set out, and an excellent tea was served, with the addition of fruit and sweets. Paper caps, made by a member of the G.F.S.. added much to the pleasure, and Mrs Alexander had arranged a delightful programme, and led the community singing. The whole afternoon was most successful and concluded with cheers for the entertainers and the absent friends who had provided so kindly and plentifully. Miss Escott (acting superintenent) received the visitors, and with members of the staff did all possible to help to make the afternoon a success.

Several very happy parties have been given lately for Miss Eileen Norwood, whose wedding takes place shortly. Miss Joan Zohrab gave one at her charm.ng home at Silverstream. The weather was not kind, so that tennis was not possible, but a happy time was spent indoors. A delightful party was given for Alias Connie Bertlesen, at the home of Alias Alyra Hart on Tuesday. Airs Hart was wearing a navy blue georgette frock; Aliss Hart, lemon georgette; and Miss Bertlesen, black satin. The prizes were won by Aliss Al. Ross, and Air R. Newland. AUCKLAND, February 5. The flag officers and committee of the Akarana Yacht Club gave a flannel dance last week in the club-house at Mechanics’ Bay. in honour of the yachtsmen who were visiting Auckland for the Sanders Cup races. The members of the committee

Day, of Dunedin, who have been the guests of Airs Alatthews, of Takapuna, have returned to the south. Major Whitney, Aliss Whitney, and Aliss Leana Whitney, of Remuera, have left for Wellington en route for England by the new oil ship. Rangitata. Miss Janet Clarkson. Dilworth avenue.
