REQUEST BY ARMY OFFICERS. I’IiIVATE \( ( O.M.MODATION REFUSED. AUCKLAND, January 21. Tim Auckland Hospital Board’s decision m.r. to provide private accommodation for ollicers ot the Royal Navy was reaffirmed at a mei ting to-day. A litter was received from the Directoi - gi-neral of Health t Dr T. 11. A. Valintine) stating that the navy was prepared to pay increased fees for private accommodation. as it was not in the interests of dis.-ipliiie to Lave officers and men in the same hospital quarters. " No question of payment need enter into the matter,” said Mr Savage. “It is just a question of a public institution, where everyone is entitled to equal treatment. By providing private accommodation we would be establishing a precedent, and tlmre is no reason why we should alter our previous decision on the matter.” Hi- chairman (Mr W. Wallace) said that the Wi llington Hospital Board had refused to grant priv.ite accommodation. It was resolved to write to the Directorgeneral saying the matter could not be reconsidered.
