UNDEVELOPED CROWN LANDS.

THE GOVERNMENT’S POLICY. WELLINGTON, January 10. In reply to a question by a reporter, the Minister of Lands (Mr G. W. Forbes)

stated that the personnel of the Lands Development Board, established under the provisions of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1929, had been completed by the appointment of Mr J. R. Franklin, of St. John’s Hill, Wanganui. The board, said Mr Forbes, was fortunate in counting Mr Franklin amongst its members, for not only had he had extensive experience but he had also carried out a great deal of private development work. The Minister added that he had no doubt that the appointment would give general satisfaction. The Minister intimated that the three advisory committees which had been appointed in the North Auckland and Auckland land districts were commencing active inspection work, and that the Lands Development Board would shortly hold regular meetings in furtherance of the policy of settling the undeveloped Crown lands of the Dominion.
