CHANGES IN PERSONNEL. WELLINGTON, January 9. The following changes in the Defence Forces were gazetted to-night:— Lieutenant-colonel N. W. B. B. Thoms relinquishes his appointment as general staff officer on the Southern Command, having left New Zealand to attend the Imperial Defence College. Lieutenant-colonel R. B. Smyth, formerly adjutant-general at General Head quarters, has been appointed general staff officer on the Southern Command. Captain J. Redmond, of the New Zea land Staff Corps, has been promoted to the rank of major.
