ALLEGED BURGLARY.
THE ACCUSED REMANDED. CHRISTCHURCH, January 7. A remand till January 14 was granted by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning in connection with the charges against Charles Robert Gray, aged 17, and James Wilfred Gray, aged 19. It is expected that many charges will be laid in connection with the recent series of fires in the city and also that the shoot ing of Mr E. Hammond at his shop in Oxford terrace will be the subject oi a serious charge against one of tin accused. The charges preferred this morning were—(l) against both the accused that on December 18 at Christ church they broke and entered by night the shop of J. J. Brookes with intent to commit a crime and (2) against Charles Robert Gray that on December 18 he was deemed to be an idle and disorderly person in that he carried an offensive weapon, to wit, a gun. Chief Detective Carroll asked for s lemand till January 14. Mr M. J. Burns, who appeared for the accused, agreed, and the remand wasgranted. The accused were handcuffed togethei when they were being taken to the°court and the same precaution was observed when they were returned to the police station.
