OTAGO LAND BOARD.

• MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly sitting of the Otago Land Board was held on Wednesday, the business being completed in the afternoon. Those attending tile meeting were Messrs N. C. Kensington (chairman), J. R.M'C'ulloch, M. A. Kinney, T. A. Munro, and G. Livingstone. The board was asked further to consider the recommendations made by the commissioner after inspecting the land in block XII, Wilkin" S.D., at Makarora, applied for by Eric James and George Humphrey. The recommendations were as. follow:—(1) That Eric James be granted an area of 48 acres adjoining section 5 and subject to the payment of the costs of survey, at a capital value of f2 per acre. (2) That Humphrey be granted an area of approximately 96 acres north of the area proposed to b; granted to James, subject to the payment of the costs of survey, at a capital value of £2 per acre. (3) That miscellaneous licenses 2867 and 1649 in the name of J. C. Nichols, and miscellaneous license 2587 in the name of Eric James be can celled, and that J. C. Nichols be granted a year-to-year grazing right over the bal ance of the land included in these licenses at his present annual rental.—Recoin mendations approved. Messrs. E. Becker applied for a renew able lease over section 12, block XV, Tiger Hill S.D., area 2 acres 0 roods 15 poles.—Declined on account of mining objections. Gerald P. Enright made a similar application in regard to section 31, block XXI, Shotover S.D. '9a 3r .05p) and section 32, block XXI, Shotover S.D. (10a 2r 35p).—Granted on renewable lease at a capital value of £65. William Saunders-Loder, lessee of section 77, block I, Moeraki S.D., applied for exemption from residence until next July.—Exemption granted until January 31, 1930. The Land Board was asked to appoint its appraiser to assess the rental for the new term in respect of the Education Reserve lease over sections 33, block I, and 19, block 11, Leaning Rock S.D., held by C. R. Attfield.—Field inspector appointed appraiser to fix the rental for the new term. Field Inspector Mee was appointed appraiser to fix the rentals for new term? in the following cases:— Education Reserve lease over sections 84-86. 109-111, block IV, Papakaio 5.D... held by W. J. Simpson and Adam Young. Education Reserve lease over part section 7 and part section 18, block V, Kauroo S.D., held by James Kingan. Education Reserve lea -e over sections 44. 45. and 46, block VIII, Papakaio S.D. held by Dunean M. Matheson. Educa- ■ tion Reserve lease over section 1 of 15, block 11, Moeraki S.D., held by Archi bald Aitchison; and Education Reserve lease over sections 53, 54, and 55, block VII, Papakaio S.D., held by William M’Pherson. Field Inspector Mee was appointed ap praiser in the following instances:—To assess the fee simple of the land comprised in run 3081, Serpentine, held by J. H. Mulholland. To assess the fee simple of the land comprised in ruu 353 D, Serpentine and Long Valley, held by J. F. Laurenson. To assess the fee simple of the land comprised in run 3080. Long Valley, etc., held by Mrs E. O'Mai " ley. To assess the fee simple of the land comprised in run 308 J, Serpentine, held by J. G. Donald. To assess the fee simple of the land comprised in run 308 K, Serpentine, held by C. A. Ridland ; and to assess the fee simple of the land comprised in run 308 H, Serpentine, and Upper Taieriside, held by G. A. Manson. George Basil Gould, of Oamaru, lessee of section 17, block XXXIX, Town of Oamaru, had applied for permission to erect a dwelling-house on the above section.—Permission granted. The application for fee simple in connection with sections 7, 17, 43, block I Kawarau S.D. (99a 2r Sip), by Catherine Cosgrove, was approved. James Templeton applied to surrender his miscellaneous license 3183 over an area of 380 acres of the riverbed, block IV, Lower Wanaka S.D.—License determined as requested by applicant. The Waikouaiti County Council sub mitted proposals for the expenditure of “ Thirds,” etc., accrued for period ended October 31, 1929, amounting to £49 13s 4d. —Approved and receiver authorised to payThe Maniototo County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of “ Thirds,” etc., accrued for period ended October 31, 1929, amounting to £llB 8s 2d.—Approved, and receiver authorised to pay. Transfers were dealt with as follow: —Sections 5,6, Janefield Settlement (8:1 •2r 37p), Bertram H. Haugh to Thomas Ji Truesdale. Approved.—Section 10, block VII, Swinburn S.D. (267 a Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency Com pany, Ltd., to Agnes Mary Pearson. Ap plication refused in the public interest. Section, 24, block 111, and 20, block VIII. Maniototo S.D.
