LABOUR TOPS THE POLL. 608 ABSENTEE VOTES TO COME IN. WELLINGTON, December 18. The by-election for the Hutt electorate, rendered vacant by the appointment of Mr T. M. Wilford as High Commissioner, resulted as follows:— WALTER NASH (Labour) .... 4793 Janies Kerr (United) 4637 Harold F. Johnston (Reform) .. 2368 There are 608 absentee votes to come.

The voting at the general election in November last was: T. M. Wilford (United), 7283; W. Nash (Labour), 5978.
