Vivid impressions of Germany’s efforts to capture a larger share of the world trade were gathered by the Rev. D. C. Bates, who returned to Wellington from Europe recently after attending a conference of meteorologists (says the Christchurch I’rcs.s). There was no unemployment dole in Germany, said Mr Bates. This, primarily, was because there was no unemployment. Even women were working in the fields, and in one case he saw a woman harrowing with a horse and an ox yoked together.
